An acid comedy for Christmas!

Just as it happened in the film industries of many European countries, the horror genre in Spain had a slow and difficult development until the 60s, when people like Narciso Ibanez Serrador and Amando de Ossorio added a Spaniard flavor to the Eurohorror of those years. However, Spaniard horror lost steam as the 70s ended and by the 80s it was again in a deep slumber in which only cult figures like Jess Franco and Paul Naschy kept truly working within the genre. Fortunately, the 90s brought an entirely new generation of young filmmakers who, having grown up with the films of that golden age, started to create a new series of horror films for the modern reality of Spain.

Married couple Andy (José María Guillén) and Ana (Mariana Karr) with their dog are out for a drive when another couple – Bruno (Ángel Aranda) and Berta (Sandra Alberti) – see them and call them over. It seems that Andy and Bruno went to college together, although Bruno is unfamiliar to Andy and Bruno’s story is a little inconsistent. Never a couple of bright lights, Andy and Ana follow these two creepy virtual strangers out into the middle of nowhere for a visit….

1970. The United States was at the height of the Vietnam War. The Ohio National Guard were sent to Kent State University after the ROTC building was burned down; opening fire on students protesting U.S. invasion of Cambodia. Four students are killed. A similar event happened at Jackson State University which claimed two lives. The Apollo program was abandoned. Charles Manson released his album “Lies” to finance his criminal defense. The Ford Pinto was introduced. Four California Highway Patrol officers were killed in one day…making 1970 the deadliest year in California law enforcement history. Monday Night Football premiered. And a movie was released to unsuspecting grindhouses and drive-ins that would change exploitation forever… I Drink Your Blood.
