Archeologist Dr. Harry McColl (Jeremy London) and his team Rudy (Griff Furst) and Sierra (Sarah Skeeters) dig up a rockfall and find a bunch of statues – including a basilisk statue – as well as a golden rod with a jewel on top. Back in the states, Harry meets new faculty Rachel Donegal (Wendy Carter) right before he attends the opening of the exhibit of the dig finds. The opening is emceed by Professor Carlton (Stephen Furst) and attended by benefactors Brock (Doug Dearth) and Hannah (Yancy Butler), but is not particularly successful when the basilisk suddenly returns to life and attacks.

Oil tycoon Frederic Schist (Jack Thompson) has opened an oil platform in some sacred Indian swamp and people have begun disappearing, including the sheriff. The new sheriff, Kyle Williams (Matthew Le Nevez) and school teacher / environmental protester Teri Elizabeth Richards (Rachael Taylor) try to stop it, despite all the victims being standard-issue rednecks. Killing rednecks is a public service, and I resent anyone trying to slow or halt this necessary work….

Little Johnny (Gregory Moffett) and his ‘family’ have to battle with one of the least convincing alien invaders of all time … the ROBOT MONSTER! The ROBOT MONSTER! invades the Earth and destroys almost all life with his CALCINATOR DEATH RAY! – which uses stock footage of fighting dinosaurs from One Million B.C. among others – leaving only Johnny and his family as well as some off-camera people who die later in another stock footage extravaganza. This collection of people are humanity’s last hope to avoid extinction, but really if that’s the best Earth has to look forward to they might as well just up and die…..

Dr. Arcane – what a stupid name – want this research because … I guess … he’s evil, and evil guys need plant research. When Ferret (David Hess) and his mercenaries screw up the snatch of the research, Dr. Alec Holland gets turned into a monstrous thing of the swamp called SWAMP THING!!!!
