When the going gets tough the tough get a beauty queen.
Society goes down the tubes and only former beauty queen Amber Bathory (Beverly Hynds) has the sheer force of will needed to keep things going in her small, frigid community. She makes great efforts to make a show of helping out the less fortunate, many of whom follow her because she’s attractive, but really, she’s a monster. You see, like her namesake Elizabeth Báthory, Amber has a nasty habit of bathing in the blood of her serving girls to keep her youth. Things start to go wrong when her servants, sick of her increasing delusional megalomania decide that it might be time to retire her….
As a post-apocalyptic titty film, this is about the same level as BattleQueen 2020 except that Beverly Hynds is not as good an actress as Julie Strain. Consider well the gravity of that statement. The violence, gore, acting, script, and catering for this film are all sub-par even in the sad realm of post-apocalyptic films, even if the Italian offerings are included. Even the fake laughing goes way beyond forced, we’re talking about the sort of loud braying that one hears coming from a table of middle-aged women getting ‘outrageously drunk’ at some suburban TGIFriday’s on a Wednesday night; the sort of laugh that Fran Drescher would call annoying. The only reason to watch this, aside from the boobs, is for the all-around enjoyable badness of the entire production.
I suppose there’s another reason that this film is worth checking out, if you want to smugly gloat about how this is not going to come to pass because of the 2008 U.S. Presidential election; or you could just watch this.
