Every time you go out this kind of thing happens.

A woman has her throat sliced as she was waiting for her boyfriend on an empty beach. When the boyfriend returns, a hulking figure attacks him from behind and garrotes him off of the ground. Frank (Joe Spinell) wakes up screaming and sweaty. It was only a nightmare. He begins to rock himself back and forth to gather his bearings. It is apparent that Frank has some serious mental issues… and we are only three minutes into the film.

A conservative’s dry dream: San Francisco tamed!

The film opens with what looks like ephemeral intestines floating through the void of space looking to spread their mischief on the innocent population of some unsuspecting planet. Luckily they come to Earth where no one is innocent; they end up in San Francisco, California, where people are less innocent still. When the intergalactic spooge settles upon the town of San Francisco it forms nasty little buds with awful red flowers on them….

She’s hot, vulgar… and out for money!

Come to think of it… Given what this website is called, there’s simply no way we can go around Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, without at least giving her a wink (or a tip of the hat if we should happen to wear one). Almost 30 years ago, Cassandra Peterson started her acting career as Elvira. And ever since, she has been bringing a lot more terrific cards to the B-horror table than just her twin ace material. There, since I figured nobody would forgive me if I would not include at least one boob-joke in this review, I’m glad we got that out of the way. Now let’s get down to Elvira’s legacy of the macabre, more specifically this fine highlight, her first feature length film.

The Picture That’ll Make You… sick sick SICK with Laughter!

The movie begins with a horrible beatnik poet reciting some terrible poetry and that made me almost put it off to watch The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant instead. But hey, since I watched the first minute, I might as well view the next 64. And I’m glad I did, ’cause it’s a pretty damn good black comedy.

Morak, The Destroyer!

Oh dear, where to begin? I laughed pretty hard with that sequence where the guy’s about to commit suicide and then calls it off because he’s running late for work. But this film is not a comedy. It’s an alledged shock feature that seems to start off as a tame rape/revenge kind of deal, but very quickly heads off in a slightly more supernatural direction, doing anything but firmly pedalling along. And like any child learning how to ride a bicycle can tell you; when you loose pedals and fall on your ass, it hurts.
