The new remake of Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street will be directed by Samuel Bayer, the music video director responsible for the famous Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit clip. According to IMDb the film’s due for 2010, and the writer is Wesley Strick from movies such as Cape Fear & Arachnaphobia.
At Risky Biz Blog they say about the movie thusly: “Unlike other reboots of classic horror franchises, which synthesize plotlines from several films, this one, insiders said, will feature a strong element of the first picture, in which Krueger famously began haunting teenagers’ dreams, attacking them violently in their subconscious in ways that resulted in their real-life deaths.“
A director who previously only directed music videos seems like a bit of a strange choice to direct a horror movie, but there you have it.
