One tire, two reviews.
Rubber is a roadmovie about the most lonesome killer imaginable. He doesn’t talk. He doesn’t walk. He doesn’t listen. He just lurks, stalks and… blows things up. His name is Robert, and he was the star of this year’s opening movie for Offscreen Film Festival 2011. Not one, but two of us attended the screening. Hence, another dual-review.

Since Willamina is completely unable to defeat the Countess, instead she allies with her in a move so diabolically intelligent and calculated that I’m certain she planned it in advance rather than it being the result of poor writers using it as a way to show a lot of women doing things to other women. After all, Seduction Cinema has standards….

Caught in the web of… inbred teenage girls!
Seeing Spider Baby on the big screen is a quite unique experience, since there aren’t that much 35-mm copies in good condition left of this movie. For the Offscreen Festival screening last year (2008), Jack Hill provided a print out of his private collection, for which we thank him heartily. Spider Baby is a black & white sixties treasure filled with demented humor and grotesque terror, dealing with rather bizarre family values.
